Valhi: Lower Selling Prices And Volumes
Valhi (VHI) faces headwinds from lower TiO2 prices and destocking on volumes, pressuring its chemical segment despite a positive perimeter effect from a joint venture buyout. Operating income declined due to falling TiO2 prices, stable input costs and general operating leverage on lower industrial volumes. A higher CAPEX commitment and weak market environment have reduced the NAV discount to just 4%.

Valhi: End Markets Were Looking Weak
Valhi's NAV discount is present and may be bigger than what we've put, but broadly, it doesn't look like it is beyond the norm for a holding company. On top of that, markets have reacted to Tronox having a pressured quarter, despite measures like anti-dumping against China protecting some markets. Valhi and constituent Kronos shares have been appropriately punished by the Tronox leading indication. Moreover, we don't see an upward inflection coming in end markets based on macro.

Great Long-Term Return Compounders: Which Ones Are Next
To find the next 10-bagger, focus on small, profitable companies with 20%+ revenue growth, fair valuations, and long runways for reinvestment. Canadian compounders like VitalHub, Propel Holdings, Enterprise Group, and Zedcor exhibit these traits and are our highest conviction long-term investments. Patience is key; exponential returns are back-end loaded, and even after big moves, these stocks can still offer significant upside.
