TUGN: An Overlooked, Interesting Covered Call ETF Beating The S&P & Peers
The STF Tactical Growth & Income ETF (TUGN) employs a differentiated, dynamic covered call strategy, targeting a 10–12% yield with tactical asset allocation. TUGN has outperformed major S&P 500 ETFs since inception, with a 3-year average total return of 24.3% and 2023 returns of 35.15%. Management actively removes call spreads in bull markets to capture upside and shifts toward fixed income in bear markets to preserve NAV and income.

TUGN: A Double Negative Fund To Avoid
The STF Tactical Growth & Income ETF uses a proprietary Tactical Unconstrained Growth Model to allocate between growth equities, treasuries, and money markets. The ETF incorporates an option spread strategy to further generate income. Like the TUG ETF, the TUGN ETF underperforms the QQQ in both bearish and bullish markets. It further underperforms the TUG due to its spread-writing strategy that trades away upside.
